THE AWESOME HEALING POWER OF GODWarren’s story 27.5.2025
I was running a youth group in the Baptist Church in Brisbane. We had all the kids around to my sister’s place and she had a pool. One kid jumped off the top of the fountain into the pool and went down so deeply he cracked his head on the bottom of the pool and broke his neck.
He was rushed to hospital and amongst other things, they put a neck brace on him to hold his head in one place. It was horrific.
We would visit every day and one day we decided to pray for him.
We laid hands on his head and neck and started to pray for complete healing. We prayed hard and fervently for complete healing.
We felt a heat coming into our bodies through our arms and hands into this young man. He said he felt the power of God come into his body.
His neck was healed. The doctors couldn’t explain it. No-one could believe it, given the severity of his injury, but there it was, healed.
The awesome power of God
THE POWER OF PRAYERA staunch Christian man was doing an easy tree lopping/pruning job using a chainsaw but things don’t always go the way we think.
Up in the tree, the chainsaw jammed and he fell backwards with the saw landing on his left arm gouging five major lacerations but luckily didn’t cut any arteries or major blood vessels. Was it luck or God’s protection over him?
He insisted on going to his local doctor who stitched him up and put his injured arm in a sling.
What happened next is the power of prayer.
This man so strongly believed in God’s power to heal, he went straight to a nearby church for the evening service to get prayer for his arm. But by this time, he was in a lot of pain as the anaesthetic had worn off.
They started praying over him, laying hands on him. The whole church prayed as one, lifting their voice and petitions to Jesus.
The healing was so instant, it felt like a dream. By the end of the service, the man had taken his arm out of the sling and had the bandage off.
The next morning there were no stitches left and the lacerations were healed. He kept touching it and pressing it but the wound had healed so well there was no pain and it looked a couple of months old.
He gives God the glory for his healing and he still has the scars to show.
God heals
GOD IS THERE WHEN NO ONE ELSE ISA church member had been married for 22 years when her husband left her for another woman. She didn’t know how she was going to raise their three teenagers, get a job, work, pay the bills and somehow find a way to do all this by herself.
She prayed and fasted and asked for help.
Towards the end of two years, a friend prayed over her. Her friend prayed in the name of Jesus and said that ‘God is there when no-one else is”.
How true those words were.
When she thought back over the last two years she realised that God was there all the time. He opened doors for her. She became a Teacher’s Aide to be with her children. People left meals and other things on her doorstep, things she needed just when she needed them.
Married friends and people at church checked on her to make sure she was ok but she still felt isolated and there were many strongholds trying to bring her down - anxiety, depression, anger, unforgiveness, physical exhaustion, but God helped her through all those.
She went on to study a Diploma in Library/Information skills. She didn’t have a computer but God provided one. She managed. Her kids had to learn to cope and they did. She had to learn to forgive their Dad and she did. They now have an amicable relationship and she is a confident and content survivor of a traumatic time because God is there when no-one else is.
